April 22, 2014

Macleay Island's $500,000 skate park, weather permitting, is now completed and is being enjoyed by island teens.Work has been progressing on the site at considerable pace with much of the major formation now in place. The speed of the build has been hastened by the instant placement of shapes for the various rides being constructed off site.Redlands City Council representative Cr Mark Edwards advises that an 'official opening' for the skate park will probably be held in June. The skate park facility contains a performance stage, shelter, seating, drinking fountain and toilets, providing a facility the entire community can use.Much of the content is now in place with the performance stage and toilet block already completed.“The skate park has been designed for beginner, intermediate and advanced users and features ramps, steps and grind walls for skaters, scooter and BMX riders," Cr Edwards told The Friendly Bay Islander.
