GOLF CLUB LOOKS TO MAJOR CLUBHOUSE EXPANSION

The Bay Islands Golf Club is about to undergo a major expansion.

"The concept has been on the cards for some time, but it is only now we believe we are in a position to implement the expansion," said club president Gordon Hassett.

The club wishes to not only expand, but also to improve what is already at the club.

The work will involve:

• Expansion of the interior floorspace to the north east;

• Expansion of the outdoor deck area across the front of the clubhouse, overlooking the course proper;

• Develop of a new outdoor screened smoking area;

• Re-positioning of the gaming area at the club;

• Re-positioning of the dining and entertainment areas to open to the deck area.

Gordon Hassett says the club is currently deciding on the final details of the expansion.

"Local designer Martyn Osborne of Bay Island Designs is helping us with our planning.

"The work could be anywhere from $250,000 to $400,000," he told The Friendly Bay Islander.

"Certainly when the work is completed, the club will be far more attractive for club members and their guests.

"We also believe it will be a better functioning facility, taking advantage of the course views in a positive way," he said.
