STRADDIE CHAMBER AND EVOCCA WORKPLACE TRAINING GRADUATES HONOURED

August 17, 2014

Graduates of the first workplace training program conducted by the Straddie Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Evocca Workplace Training were recently recognised.

The event was attended by Redland City Council Mayor, Karen Williams, who presented certificates to the large group of graduates.

The workplace training program came about when The Straddie Chamber of Commerce was successful in securing over $40,000 of grant funding from State Government via Department of Education, Training and Employment under the Regional Workforce Development Scheme.

The opportunity was circulated to chamber members for participation and 15 Straddie businesses elected to take up the opportunity with a total of 37 participants involved.

This successful first attempt at workplace training was stage one of a training initiative undertaken by the proactive chamber.

The participants received their Certificates for their successful completion of four modules in a CERT III in Tourism and /or Business.

Their graduation night was a huge success with  Mayor Williams lauding the chamber initiative and the 37 graduates who successfully completed workplace training.

"It is initiatives like these that add to the quality of service and business growth on our islands and throughout the Redlands," the Mayor said.

The graduation was also attended by Chamber chairman David Thomson, Evocca Workplace Training Manager Lorraine Eggers and Stephen Fai Fai from DEET.
