HISTORY ON DISPLAY AT AMITY COMMUNITY CLUB

May 6, 2017

A unique party of Amity History will soon be on display at the Amity Community Club.

The project is the brainchild of former club president Kevin Weule.

“It was decided to turn the club board room into a joint facility that also features much of the club’s and the village of Amity’s photographic history,” Kevin told The Friendly Bay Islander.

“There has been a considerable amount of work involved, but it is coming along nicely,” Kevin added.

He says the room is 75 % finished and over 700 photos will be on display when the room is completed.

“These old photos go back to 1891 and involve unique Amity subjects such as fishing, beach netting, jettyies, transport, marges  Hales Ferries, mining, buildings, tree logging and milling.

There is also mill saw blades, Amity people, even a set of Shark jaws.

Kevin Weule has also found  some rare 8 mm movies  of Amity for the display.

The Amity Club Historical Photograph Display Room with open at the Amity Community Club, Claytons Road Amity Point at 3 pm on the 10th of June  2017.

Island residents, club members and visitors are invited along for the opening and to view the completed exhibition.
