The Friendly Bay Islander is again going inject a bit of fun into buying local and supporting local business with our Buy Island Local promotion.

We introduced the program last year and we are going again with a SHOP and WIN promotion designed to boost island business.

And by supporting participating businesses, you will have a chance to win $1000 Cash for Christmas and heaps of other prizes.

Our 'Buy Local Support Island Business' is to make locals more aware of what is available locally and will run in our September, October, November and December editions.

Every local business which advertisers in The Friendly Bay Islander can be part of the campaign.

Each participating store and business will display the special promotional signs.

And every shopper at these stores can, when they make a purchase, fill out the tickets available (one ticket per sale) with their name and contact number and go into a draw to win a $1000 Cash.

Businesses so far participating and adding to the prize list include:

• Our Place On Macleay - Gift Voucher $50 for food and gifts.

• Le Bon Bakery - $25 Voucher

• Dinner for two at Watersedge Bistro

• $100 Russell Island Supa IGA Gift Card thanks to Tyrone Jones.

• Plants to the value of $50 from Canaipa Nursery

Other businesses have indicated that they would like to add to the competition, and we hope to include businesses from North Stradbroke Island.

These will be added next month and up until the competition is drawn.

So, get involved and let's go shopping on our islands.

The more purchases you make at participating stores, the more entries you will have in the draw.

The competition will be drawn and winners will receive their prizes on Friday, December 19 with the winners announced in the mid January, 2015 edition of The Friendly Bay Islander.

• Conditions apply to this competition on the basis that the winners announced will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
