CLUB MACLEAY
Club Macleay held its annual general meeting recently. The main club looks forward to having Barry Reid as Chairman for another year so we know the club is in good hands with his strong leadership. The club in general is travelling very well and it is looking forward to another successful year. There are a couple of new faces on the committee and we look forward to new and exciting ideas. The bowling committee has new members with President Brian Stephenson, Vice-President Peter Adams, Secretary Ann Welsh, Treasurer Nigel McLachlan, Games Director Rod Callaghan and committee members: Lance Millier, Robert Taylor, Stephen Harris and Sylvia Davis. Check out the entertainment at the club with the Hillbilly Goats performing on October 17. The Market Day dates are October 12 and November 9. Don't forget to enjoy Sunday Barefoot Bowls!
RUSSELL RSL CLUB
There is going to be fun at the Russell Island RSL Oktoberfest to be held on Saturday, October 11. The Sunday Markets will be held at the club again on September 28 with fishing weigh-in on September 14 and 28. The most popular event in town are the Sunday morning breakfasts every Sunday from 9am at an amazing $3 for members and just $5 for non members. Check out the entertainment and make sure you have a ticket in the monthly Loser's Draw Prize with a Char Broil Grill to be won!
STRADDIE SHARKS
The Straddie Sharks Club had a wet but successful opening to the club extensions. A fund raiser is to be held soon for the business owners devastated by the recent shop fire. Watch out for details. One of the best outlooks on the island can be enjoyed whilst dining at the club and selecting the great food from the new menu in the Sharks Tooth Kitchen. You can eat in or take away. Live music is enjoyed at the club each week and get ready for Melbourne Cup and our famous Oyster Festival in mid November!
LAMB RECREATION CLUB
The Lamb Island Recreation Club has appointed a new operator for the club kitchen. A relative newcomer to the Island, Michael has considerable experience as a chef and his new menu is now being introduced. Michael has been engaged for a trial period and we look forward to some great meals coming out of the kitchen. Oktoberfest will be held at the Lamb Island Recreation Club on Sunday, October 19. It was a huge success last year with traditional outfits being worn, much fun and dance. Markets will be held.
RUSSELL ISLAND BOWLS CLUB
It's Murder Mystery night at the Russell Island Bowls Club on Tuesday, Sept 16 and Casino Night on Saturday, Sept 20. These are both great and fun nights, not to be missed. Trivia is also be held on September 10 and 24 and October 8 and 22. the AFL and NRL Grand Finals are about to be held and come and watch the action on our big screens. Don't forget our famous Melbourne Cup Day on the first Tuesday in November.
