Island residents have gone 'all out' with some magnificent Christmas lights in the lead up to Christmas!

All islands have Christmas light displays, however, Macleay Island has turned it into a Christmas Lights Tour and a competition.

Russell Island has also got into the act too, with the island hosting two Christmas Carols events.

There are two Christmas Carols events to be held with the Russell Island Singers on Friday December 19 at the Russell Island Church Hall at 7pm

Island churches have combined to hold Christmas Eve Carols at the Russell Island Recreation Hall on Wednesday, December 24, from 6 to 8pm. There will also be a cup and cake!

There will also be Carols in the Park at Pat's park on Macleay island 23rd December from 5pm to 9pm.

Macleay Island also held the annual Christmas Parade courtesy of the Lions Club which was well supported.

More than 15 island homes are in the Macleay Island Christmas Lights tour with some wonderful efforts by many island home owners.

Cr Mark Edwards and his wife Suzette, who were asked to participate in the judging, were amazed at the quality and the standard.

"The effort by the island residents is outstanding.

"We were delightfully surprised at the effort many residents have gone to in decorating their homes," the councillor said.

The tours were organised by island Christmas fanatic Heather Billaney and Susan Glover.

Two of the tours have been held with the final tour set for December 18.

The tour of the homes also included a visit and a light supper at Wanderland, a Christmas display at the home of Heather Billaney.
