The new manager at Russell Island Bowls Club, Jeannie Ledington, brings a background in accountancy to her new position.

Jeannie, who lives on Macleay Island and is a club member, takes on the position that has been held for many years by Robyn Jessop.

Robyn has been trying to 'move on' for some time, and continued on at the club, despite claiming she had surpassed her 'used by date'.

"I had been doing the job for a long time and I have wanted to head in a new direction for some time.

"I have been appointed to a real estate position on the mainland, and I will be specialising in Island Real Estate," she told The Friendly Bay Islander.

Needless to say, Robyn in her inimitable fun-loving style, says she wants to hear from 'everybody' when it comes to island real estate!

Jeannie Ledington comes to the manager's position with considerable experience, particularly in accountancy as a lecturer in the subject.

"I am really enjoying it here at the club, even though there is a bit of juggling going on at the moment.

"The club certainly has a strong future.

"Just this year alone three teams performed well in the pennants, a record for the club.

"And funding has just been received from the Queensland State Government for the construction for an additional green here at the club.

"The club has some future plans for major extensions, so I couldn't be coming here at a more exciting time," Jeannie said.
