Man to stand trial for Murder of Liselotte Watson

A JUNK mail delivery man has been committed to stand trial for the murder of an 85-year-old grandmother on a tight-knit Queensland island.

STEVEN Mark John Fennell, 54, was arrested in March 2013 after a lengthy police investigation into the disappearance of pensioner Liselotte Watson.

Ms Watson's body was found by police in a bedroom of her home on Macleay Island, off Brisbane, in November 2012.

Following a three-day committal hearing, Magistrate Noel Nunan on Wednesday afternoon said there was enough evidence for Fennell to stand trial.

Fennell has pleaded not guilty.

During the hearing, neighbours spoke of seeing Fennell, who was known on the island as a junk mail deliverer, at Ms Watson's house before her body was found.
