NEW TEAM BRINGS BACK-TO-BASICS FOOD TO RUSSELL RSL BISTRO

• Cheryle and Sharon now cooking up a storm at the Russell Island RSL.

There are new caterers at the Russell Island RSL Club's Billy's Bistro.

Island duo Cheryle Briggs and Sharon Priestley have been appointed by the RSL Club to head the club's dining room in a new direction.

"We were looking for a new direction and we wanted to get back to basics," says club president Anthony Gleeson.

"Sharon and Cheryle excited us with their ideas and concepts," the club president said.

The two girls have lived on Russell Island for the past two years and both have extensive experience in the catering industry.

Sharon will be out front and Cheryle will be doing the cooking in the kitchen.

They are about bringing good quality, wholesome meals at affordable prices to Billy's Bistro.

And they are using good local suppliers of fresh produce to achieve their quality goals.

"This is about good Aussie food with special themed days and special offers," Sharon said.

Look for some Aussie delights such a heaps of bangers and mash with onion and gravy, corned beef and white sauce, x2 roast Sundays, Fish n Chip Fridays, pizza and pasta nights, steak nights and lots more.

"We will also be offering an a la carte section to the menu," says chef Cheryle.

The Russell Island RSL Dining Room will be open 6 days from Tuesday to Sunday for both lunch and dinner.

"The team here at the RSL is fantastic. There is a great buzz around the place and we are looking to add to it with some great service and back-to-basics food," says Sharon Priestley.
