The Minjerribah Moorgumpin Elders-in-Council marked 21 years of aboriginal cultural services delivery at a special anniversary event late last month.

The special festival was held at Terra Bulla Leumeah on Minjerribah, at Dickson Way, Myora, on North Stradbroke.

The event was attended by a host of dignitaries, including MMEIC president Aunty Margaret Iselin, Hon Leeanne Enoch Minister for Housing and Public Works, Member for Cleveland Dr Mark Robinson, and Redland City Council Mayor, Karen Williams.

One of the features of the festival was the launching of major Terra Bulla upgrades, including new wheelchair pathways and bush tucker signage.

Some of the activities on the day included the Yulu-Burri-Ba Dancers, an exhibition of the Elders history panels, guest speakers, cultural talks and workshops along with aboriginal dance, spear throwing, boomerang painting, weaving and sand art.

This all went down with a delightful barbecue lunch.

Maria Belle Isle of the Elders in Council said a considerable amount of work went into the planning for the 21st celebration.
