State Member for Redlands Matt McEachan and Cr Mark Edwards helped Russell Island State School celebrate new funding for a crossing supervisor at a special morning tea this week.
The school approached Mr McEachan after calls for funding had gone unanswered.
Russell Island State School Principal Janet Tucker said it was a relieving win for the school community.
“Our community has learnt that their voice can be heard if we’re loud enough.
“The safety of our children is priority for everyone.”
Mr McEachan said the next step would be securing flashing speed limit signs for Southern Moreton Bay Island schools.
