The Russell Island RSL is attaining new heights of achievement and operation.
Never in the history of the long-serving island club has its levels of achievement been so successful and rewarding.
“We certainly are operating on a much higher level these days,” says RSL president Anthony Gleeson.
“There has been a long-term plan in play with the objective to be in the position we are at the present time.
“And it is across all area of club operation and activities, which makes me extremely proud,” the club president said.
The catalyst in the new levels of achievement has been the club extensions of the large entertainment area and the addition of an Alfresco outdoor dining area.
Changes to the kitchen operation have also been a success.
“We have introduced new levels of entertainment and operation that are proving popular with members and guests,” Anthony Gleeson says.
“It is about making use of our new facilities and better use of our old amenities,” he added.
It has culminated in the ability of the club to now conduct bigger and better events, particularly at a social level.
“The Winter Ball to be held on Saturday July 30th is a first for the club and probably a first for the islands in the club industry.
“The club extensions now allow us to raise the bar and run more adventurous events,” the club president said.
The Winter Ball will be the first of some new directions.
More themed dances will follow in the coming weeks and months.
The other new directions offer great opportunities for members of the RSL Club.
The club is currently offering a new Hyundai Car to be won, for FREE, for some lucky member.
All members have to do is to attended nominated events at the club to earn FREE tickets at that event. Attend more nominated events, and earn more tickets is the goal for members to put themselves in a good chance of winning the new car just in time for Christmas.
“It will be a great Christmas present for someone. We have never done anything like this before, and I don’t think any other island club has either.
“The interest in it is fantastic and the result is improved trading right across all areas of the RSL.”
Not only that, but the club is offering JUST $5 social membership for new members at the present time, so all islanders can get involved.
Another bonus is the Club Raffle offering a great boat, motor and trailer package for some lucky islander to be drawn on the second last day of the year! A great New Year surprise for someone!
Anthony Gleeson says the exciting times and the new directions and achievements have flow-on benefits, particularly for returned service personnel.
“That is what this is all about. We are a service club that helps and recognises our serving men and women and providing valuable community assistance.”
He said all the recent efforts could not have been achieved were it not for a ‘great team’ at the RSL.
“We have a great team with all making valuable contributions.
“I would also like to personally thank the RSL volunteers who do so much for the club and the community. They are a great support to me and the club,” Anthony Gleeson said.
