RUSSELL RSL SET FOR A BIG YEAR OF INNOVATION AND CHANGE

The Russell Island RSL Club is set for a big year!

The club is launching a second Year of the Car following the success of the first ever car prize on our islands in 2016.

"This year we have decided to do it again with a car prize. Free tickets are on offer for club members, just for attending nominated club events," said club president Anthony Gleeson.

"The first car prize last year was hugely successful.

"By attaching tickets for members who attend specific club functions, it saw a huge growth in club membership and success of designated club events."

The club hopes it will be the same in 2017 because it has purchased another motor vehicle to run a similar promotion starting immediately.

"This time we have on offer a Mitsubishi Lancer, a quite spectacular red one, to be won by one of our members.

"This competition will run from now until September, much earlier than last year.

"We hope the chance to win a car will prove just as effective as it did last year.

"Again all members have to do is to attend designated club events to earn free tickets to go in the car to win," Anthony Gleeson added.

"And if islanders are not members of our club and want a chance to win the car, then they had better come and join up and become a member of the Russell Island RSL Club," the president encouraged.

He said residents of all islands are invited to take part, join the club, and come and enjoy some of the exciting events that will be staged at the Russell Island RSL Club in 2017.

From a structural point of view, 2017 will also see some major club alterations continue.

"We are going to continue with the modernisation of the club.

"This will include a new, modern look throughout the club and a total upgrade of the TAB area at the Russell RSL," Anthony Gleeson added.

There will be more events at the club this year including more dances and there will be menu additions and more theme nights in Billy's Bistro, starting with a big day and night planned for Valentine's Day on February 14.

"If you are not a member of the Russell Island RSL Club then I invite islanders to come along and join up. There will be much to enjoy here in 2017," The club president added.
