ORGANIC COLUMN

Hello, and firstly some wonderful news to share about two members of our extended market/farm family... congratulations to Leah and Lennert on the birth of their beautiful baby boy! Sweet Jasper arrived into the world on Saturday 5th May and is absolutely adorable! We're all very smitten with Jasper and so very happy for Leah and Lennert!

• The June | July exhibition in our Artery Gallery features the work of local artist Sara Zastera and is well worth visiting. The artistic talent within our little island community is truly outstanding!

• As the days are cooler now, a pleasant way to spend a Tuesday afternoon is sitting in the sun making sweet music! The music jams are a lot of fun and we thank Michael for running these sessions each week. The music jams are open to anyone in the community who wishes to join in regardless of skill level. No instrument, no worries, as you can still participate by singing along or simply come along to enjoy the tunes. The music jam sessions start at noon every Tuesday.

•We've recently had a major reshuffle of our farm pantry in order to fit all of the new products we're now stocking! Our range of flours and rices is extensive and we've been introducing more ready made meals as convenient options for busy folk! Our range of breakfast items has also increased and we're also striving to introduce more vegan-friendly products to accommodate the growing numbers of vegans in our community. If you have a favourite product that we don't have in stock please don't hesitate to chat to Mary as she'll be happy to try to source it for you.

• The “Quandamooka Festival comes to Jencoomercha (Macleay Island)” event is fast approaching! The cultural component being organised for this festival is extremely exciting and we're looking forward to sharing the full program of events as soon as all details have been finalised. The program will be released on our website and posted to our Facebook page as soon as it's ready and will be shared in our next newsletter. On the day will be a great line-up of performers, including the outstanding and popular Yulu Burri Ba dancers, there will be cultural workshops, talks/demonstrations and native bush food cuisine will be served from the festival food hub. As with all of our festivals there will be a nice variety of market stalls to browse, from local artisans, foodies, crafters through to much valued not-for-profit organisations providing information and free activities. If you'd like to apply to be a stall holder please email: infiniteearthfest@gmail.com but you'll need to apply asap as there are very limited sites now left available. Our courtesy market bus will be meeting all incoming ferries throughout the day at the Macleay island jetty. This includes the special direct ferry from Stradbroke Island that departs from Dunwich at 9.30am. Our lovely neighbours on Stradbroke Island wishing to attend the festival can purchase ferry tickets from the Dunwich News Casket & Gifts or phone 0400 004 373. There are of course limited seats available so please book your ferry tickets as early as possible so you don't miss out. We'd like to again thank Gerard from The Friendly Bay Islander for his generous community support in organising direct ferries between Stradbroke Island and the SMBI for Quandamooka Festival events. We hope to see you there on the day!
