TIME N TIDE AUGUST
OUR MAGAZINE HITS THE SPOT!
We received a call the other day from a lady who lives on the Gold Coast at Runaway Bay. She had gone to a nearby laundromat to do some washing and she happened to pick up a copy of our Friendly Bay Islander that just happened to be in the magazine rack. How it got there, we do not know, but we do get reports of it turning up all over Australia (a lot of readers Post to family and friends). Anyway, this lovely lady said she was so impressed with the magazine and the islands, she wants to know more about us! She only recently put her home on the market and it sold within a few days. “I was so impressed with the magazine and your islands, we would like to come and have a look and we are seriously thinking about moving to your beautiful islands.” That is a story we love to here, and we are glad that our magazine does turn up in some very surprising places!
LIONS SUPER SOUND
When Club Macleay recently upgraded their sound system, they donated the old system to the Port Macquariie Lions Club. President Darrell Beanie is a serious sound man and the equipment is currently being used at the Lions Markets, but he has plans for it to be fitted into a mobile van so it can be used at multiple events, just by driving up and plugging in. Great idea!
HOW DESPERATE IS THIS!
An island resident rides a bike to the ferry and takes it across, then rides to his car on Weinam Creek. He then chains it to a street sign, ready to collect and repeat later. Not so recently. Someone had tied a chain to the steel pole, pulled it over so they could extract the bike. Ironically the bike wasn’t the real issue. It just goes to show how desperate some people are to be so stupid! If anyone saw anything give us a call at the FBI. Also shows the need for CCTV cameras overlooking ALL mainland and ISLAND car park sites!
