DUNWICH BUSINESSES BAND TOGETHER FOR BIG CHRISTMAS PROMOTION!
The business houses of Dunwich have shown some real fortitude and banded together for an exciting Christmas Giveaway. Their move is certainly a positive for an island that is in ‘transition’; that is a transition from one economy to, hopefully, another. At the end of 2019, the sand mining by Sibelco will close down for good, finally ending an era when the operation was the financial ‘backbone’ of the island. The $31 million State Government process is meant to reposition lost workers into the tourism industry, and the success or otherwise of this direction, still remains to be seen. The good thing is that the business houses of Dunwich have taken a bold step to do something positive, that gives a lead to business right across the islands; i.e when the going gets tough, get stuck in and do it yourself. Let’s hope the island community gets right behind the incentive. They have the chance to win some great prizes just in time for Christmas. All they have to do is spend $20 at any of the participating businesses, and they can enter into the draw; multiple times for multiple purposes. Well done Dunwich!

She is already providing considerable assistance to several island businesses. The A Firm has two offices at Redland Bay and at Nerang on the Gold Coast.
MARXY IS BACK
Remember we told the tale of Steve Marx a couple of months ago deciding to hang up his TV antennae shingle and head off sailing? Well, he’s back. It seems Steve got bored with the lifestyle sooner rather than later, which is good news for islanders who want TV antennas installed, repaired or upgraded. Steve can assist with reception problems and can hook and tune TV, DVD, VCR, extra TV Foxtel and phone points. Steve is well known around the islands and you can give him a call on 0429953168.
