DUNWICH BUSINESSES COMBINE FOR MAJOR $2000 CHRISTMAS PROMOTION
The businesses of Dunwich on North Stradbroke Island have come together to promote The Dunwich Christmas Giveaway.
The promotion is designed to give business at Dunwich a shot in the arm prior to Christmas, and to provide some fun and interest for shoppers on North Stradbroke Island.
And to offer an incentive to ‘Shop Dunwich’ this Christmas, the group have combined to offer prizes and rewards in excess of $2000.
The prizes will be drawn during the afternoon on Christmas Eve, giving some islanders an extra special 2018 Christmas surprise.
Spokesperson for the group, Maxine McCullough, of Stradbroke Island Pharmacy, said the businesses decided to get together and become ‘proactive’ as a group.
“We wanted to do something for the community for Christmas and to give islanders a Christmas promotion to look forward to.
“With a total prize pool over $2000 dollars and involving four major prizes, it will give several families a chance to share in the prizes,” Maxine told The Friendly Bay Islander.
Total prizes are valued at over $2000 with 1st prize in excess of $1500 goods and vouchers; 2nd prize $250 plus family games pack in vouchers; 3rd prize $100 plus family games pack in vouchers, and 4th prize a $100 Redlands Coast hamper.
To qualify for the prize draw, islanders need to spend $20 or more at any of the participating stores and they can fill out an entry form that will be included in the draw.
These are available in each of the stores and can be filled out when purchases are made.
The prizes will be drawn on Christmas Eve in the middle of the Dunwich main street at 4pm.
The entire day will have a ‘market day’ appeal with participating shops offering special bargain bins of offerings.
The Dunwich Christmas Giveaway is a collaboration between local business and the community to bring fun and entertainment to Dunwich in the lead up to Christmas.
The aim is to attract local residents and tourists to the local business district and to help revitalise shopping area.
The festivities will run from Sunday 16th through to Monday 24th, with most being concentrated on Friday 21st to Monday 24th and ending with the Christmas giveaway prize draw on the afternoon of Monday 24th.

There is also hoped to be some entertainment provided by island buskers with a wonderful Christmas theme.
Many of the shops will be decorated with Christmas Decorations, to add to the spirit of the promotion and Christmas.
The participating stores in The Dunwich Christmas Giveaway are: Australia Post Dunwich, Dunwich Museum, Foodworks Dunwich, Stradbroke Pharmacy, Straddie News & Gifts, Skips Takeaway, CJ’s Pizza, Straddie AllSports & Camping, Stradbroke Butchery, Straddie Sharks Club, Cellarbrations Dunwich, Spar Dunwich, Stradbroke Island Golf Club, Island Fruit Barn Cafe, and The Most Amazing Shop.
The promotion is also proudly supported by Redlands Coast, Minjerrribah camping, and local representatives Cr. Peter Mitchell, Federal Member for Bowman Andrew Laming and State Member for Oodgeroo Mark Robinson.
