BAY ISLANDER OF THE YEAR AWARDS

BAY ISLANDER OF THE YEAR AWARDS TO PRESENTED AT AUSTRALIA DAY CELEBRATION AT RUSSELL ISLAND RSL CLUB

Australia Day, Sunday January 26, 2020 this year will be bigger than ever with a huge day of fun and family activities right across the islands!

However, the Australia Day Bay Islander of the Year Awards will be presented at the Russell RSL Club in a special ceremony at 1pm.

The club has a big day of activities planned, and it is a fitting setting for the Bay Islander of the Year Awards.

The day will start around 10am everyone is invited to attend.

Nominations are now being called for these ‘Island specific’ Australia Day Bay Islander of the Year Awards.

The event has been formulated in recent years by Steve Morgan and Bob Turner in association with Cr Mark Edwards and The Friendly Bay Islander.

This year will see Cr Mark Edwards, The Friendly Bay Islander, and the RSL Club combine to offer a fantastic award ceremony, conducted by Steve Morgan.

MP Kim Richards will also be in attendance.

There are three categories to be recognised:

• Bay Islander of the Year

• Senior Bay Islander of the Year (60 years and over)

• Young Bay Islander of the Year (16 to 30 years)

The online survey for nominations is available from The Friendly Bay Islander website thefriendlybayislander.com

The awards are for those Bay Islanders best showing community spirit and involvement.

They will be presented at The Russell Island RSL Club on Sunday, January 26.

Australia Day presentations will be awarded by Cr Edwards at 1.00pm.
