ALLEGED RAPEOF YOUNG GIRL ON MACLEAY ISLAND A man has appeared in court charged with raping a 14-year-old girl in bushland on Macleay Island, off Brisbane.
The 20-year-old man allegedly stalked the girl after she got off a bus near Hamilton Parade on her way home from school on Wednesday afternoon, April 24.
Police allege he forced her into bushland, choked her until she was unconscious and raped her.
They said the girl regained consciousness and fought the man off before a resident came to her aid.
The man was later found in bushland off Cooee Crescent and arrested.
He appeared in Cleveland Court on Thursday, April 25, and was remanded in custody to a later date for hearing.
