ANZAC DAY 2024


 ANZAC DAY THURSDAY APRIL 25, ISLAND SERVICES




MACLEAY ISLAND

At this year’s ANZAC Day Dawn Service on Thursday 25th April ex-service veterans will muster at the corner of Kate and Beelong Streets at 5.15am to march off at 5.30am to the Cenotaph at Pat’s Park. Piper Watt will lead the march playing the bagpipes. Shortly after the march the proceedings of the service will commence with the RSL Sub Branch President Peter Laverty officiating, and the catafalque party and flag party comprising a military contingent for the first time in several years.  Programmes with the order of service will be available prior to the service. At the close of service all in attendance will be invited to join in the Traditional Gunfire Breakfast of sausages, pea & ham soup, and rum with milk; all served by RSL service and social members. On completion of the breakfast and tidy up, RSL Macleay Island Sub Branch invites all members of the community to share in some fellowship at Pub Paradise and the traditional game of Aussie Two-Up.

 

COOCHIEMUDLO ISLAND

Anzac Day Dawn Service April 25, 2024 Order of Service Serving Redlands RSL Sub Branch: 5.30 am Flag Orderlies and Catafalque Party from TS Diamantina take post. Welcome: Col. Graeme Roberts-Thomson MVO OAM RFD (Retd), Audio visual and narration featuring Flying Angel Sister Marie Craig and WW11escapologist Sapper Ian Busst. Guest Speaker, Sergeant Ross (Macca) McIntosh (Retd) Scripture readings and prayers Padre Bill Narnst. The Lord’s Prayer. Laying of Wreathes On behalf of the Redlands RSL ; On behalf of the Coochiemudlo Island community; General invitation to lay a wreath or rosemary; ODE: Lt Colonel Max Moran (Retd). THE LAST POST. Silence. REVEILLE. National Anthems- New Zealand and Australia. Benediction. Stand down of Catafalque party. Close . Gunfire breakfast – hosted by Men’s Shed. Gold coin donation.

RUSSELL ISLAND 

The Russell Island RSL Sub Branch will be conducting the Dawn Service at the Cenotaph 9 Anzac Drive, Russell Island at 5.30am. Members and the Public should assemble at the Cenotaph from 5.00am. The Main Service will commence at 10.30am and the march will start from the corner of Carissa St and Anzac Avenue at 10.00am.  All participating in the March are asked to assemble from 0930 to step off at 10.00am. The club will welcome all attending after the service.

 

 

NORTH STRADBROKE ISLAND ANZAC Day 2024  

 The Stradbroke RSL Sub Branch will conduct ANZAC Day Service to mark the 109th Anniversary of the Gallipoli landing.  ANZAC Day Services on Thursday, April 25. The Dawn Service will see North Stradbroke islanders assemble at 5.10am at the Dunwich Butcher's Shop for the march to the Cenotaph for the service at 5.30am. The All-Sport club will open for the Gunfire Breakfast from 6am to 7am. Small cost also all donations will be accepted. For the 11am service: - Assemble at 10.15am: - Marchers assemble at the new assembly area at the bottom end of Dunwich school on Welsby St, not at the Little Ship Club. March to the Cenotaph with parade ‘stepping off' at 10.45am. The Commemorative Service will be held at 11am. The All-Sport club will open for refreshment after the service. LAMB ISLAND

The Anzac Day Dawn Service will be held at the island Cenotaph adjacent to the Lamb Island Recreation Club and the Pioneer Hall from 4.45am. After the event, a Gunfire breakfast will be held. Courtesy Bus available. Ring club for pickup 0448466421.



KARRAGARRA ISLAND

The Karragarra Island Ratepayers and Residents Association will host their unique Anzac Day Sunset Tribute on Thursday, April 25th, at 4:00pm.  The Ode will be read. KIRRA and other residents will place their floral tributes and memorial wreaths into the waters of Southern Moreton Bay while the Last Post is played. A sausage sizzle will follow the ceremony. People will need to bring their own beverages as we celebrate and remember the sacrifice made by so many so we can live in peace.
