CHYRSE LAMBRIDIS GET WELL SOON! You may have noticed that The Law Lady advertising is not in the current edition of your Friendly Bay Islander. Chyrse has been quite ill in recent weeks. She asked as to take out her advertising for the time being until she gets back on her feet. Chyrse is a ‘good scout’ and works hard. Her illness has been quite debilitating. And they will be part of the new TIDE Redlands Coast Islands Festival. The festival will celebrate creativity, sustainability and community across all the Southern Moreton Bay Islands, Coochiemudlo and Minjerribah | North Stradbroke Island. The 2022 Karragarra Sea Market will mark its 25th anniversary, making it the perfect opportunity to showcase island-based makers, groups and stall holders. It’s set to be the biggest market to date with an expected one hundred stalls, two performance stages, two guest speaker spaces and a dedicated workshop zone along with a special children’s and family area. Commencing on Friday 23rd September and running through to Monday 3rd of October. TIDE’s signature event is the much loved and renowned Karragarra Sea Market that will take place on Sunday 25th of September. So put it in your calendar with much to look forward to this coming Spring! NAMASTE WITCHES A spectacular shop with a ‘difference’ on Macleay Island is Namaste Witches! It is the brainchild of Lisa Brookes. She has opened her new business in the premises of the island building that used to house LJ Hooker several years ago, and IS located next to the Bay Islands Medical Service and over the road from the Macleay Island Progress Hall. Lisa has always had an interest in all things spiritual and for her, she on a spiritual odyssey with Namaste Witches, starting it out at her home on Lamb Island. It has much to do with the practice of goodness and benevolence. And that is why Lisa has turned the older-style building into a haven of candles, incense, lovely jewellery and clothing and so much more. Make sure you go and visit, and celebrate. You can even enjoy a herbal tea on the deck! RADIO FBI WINS OVER MORE FANS Radio FBI has been winning over more listeners and fans, thanks to a visit to Club Macleay during the recent May on Macleay Bowls Event. The Friendly Bay Islander’s Radio FBI was one of the sponsors for the event. We set up a display at the club during the course of play, and speakers to reach out over the greens. During the tournament Radio FBI played continually and the visiting bowlers got to listen to the outstanding music that comes from our island online radio station each day. 60’s. 70’s, 80’s and 90’s music and more is played via a number of exciting shows. It is also interspersed with news items from the columns from the current Friendly Bay Islander. If you aren’t tuned in to RadioFBI then you should be. Russell Island resident Steph who is now an online retailer of some note. She recently was recognised by Poshmark Australia and has recently WON the Poshmark Heart & Hustle Community Fund. Steph was the second person in Australia to win the Heart & Hustle $5000 grant and the only Australian to have won in Cycle 4. Steph and many other Austrlians compete with all Poshmark sellers from USA, Canada & Australia. Steph has lived on Russell Island for 13 years and has succeeded in running a small business on Poshmark & eBay!
