USING IMAGINATION VIA REPURPOSE, RECYCLE, REUSE WORKSHOPS AND ART SHOW
Our good mate, Bob Turner, is at it again.
Bob is known to islanders as an island artist of some note who also happens to be a a house designer and builder into the bargain.
He has a unique place right on the water adjacent to Jock Kennedy Park on Russell Island.
Here he has a collection of just about anything and everything. You could say he is somewhat of a ‘Bower Bird’.
So, it is no surprise that Bob Turner the artist, is very good a turning something that doesn’t seem to be very artistic, into something that is.
So, along with another very artistic and handy Bernard Demeester, in this month of June they are going to be about Repurpose, Recycle and Reuse at the Russell Island Community Arts
Bernard's passion is to sculpt , fix things and create. He hates waste so much that his own garden is filled with weird and wonderful creations.
So June will start with Bernard and Bob’s Trash to Treasure Workshops on three dates June 2nd, 9th and 16th at RICARTS.
These master of recycling will teach and show anyone who wants to attend, how to use your imagination to create anything out of anything.
This involves using and shaping metal, steel, timber, plastics, paper or whatever into sculpture, carvings and paintings.
There is a $15 entry fee for these classes to cover material costs.
It will all culminate in a special exhibition of creations produced at the workshops on June 28 to July 28 when a special exhibition will be held at RICARTS.
There will be a $500 prize for first place and second and third student prizes of $100.
