• COMMUNITY CELEBRATION VOLUNTEERING - Raby Bay Harbour Park Cleveland. Saturday 13 May, 2023. Noon to 6pm • PIZZAZZ , an exhibition of original and beautifully handcrafted jewellery and plates by Evie Smith and Beatrice Sheehan opens from 8.00am on Saturday 27th May at Willow and Oak on Macleay Island. Open for 7 days Saturday to Saturday from 8am to 2pm. A raffle with two prizes will be awarded at 11 am on Saturday 3rd June at Willow and Oak. Everyone is welcome. • GIRLS DAY OUT LUNCHES are being held on the last Thursday of the month. Proceeds from raffle to go to the Animal Welfare league. New and old participants are welcome. The RICArts/RSL Club Exhibition continues at the Russell Island RSL Club until July 2023. • RICArts 4th Annual Art Competition “My Favourite Place’ or ‘Where I Live’ is scheduled to open on Saturday 30 September 2023, 3pm @ The Farm, Arthouse & Gallery, Russell Island. Artists start thinking about the theme and how it might apply to your artwork. All mediums accepted (with some size limits). Artists from the mainland and SMB Islands are welcome to enter. $25 entry fee with limit of 2 entries each. Keep an eye on this space for more details. SPORTS ROUNDUP MAY 2023 SOCCER Our Juniors under 10`s & 12`s have kicked off, so Home game coming up are Saturday 13th & 27th May. Come cheer on our Juniors from 10.30am. April saw our Adults again go head-to-head over the Easter break , finished at 3-3 in windy and hot conditions.Next inter-island game is Sunday 28th May kicking off at 10am. We still have our Fun morning training from 9.30am each Saturday run by Steff & Rick for 5 to 8 years young. Saturday 25th March the winners of the American Foursomes game were Ray Maskell and John Robert with 61.125 and the runners up were Trevor Jamieson and Barry Newman with 65 net. Wednesday 29th March men’s stableford winner was Barry Newman with 42 points and the runner-up was Lenny Waldorff with 39 points. The ladies winner was Jo McAntee with 35 points and the runner-up was Carrol Alfonso with 30 points. Saturday 1st April were the men’s monthly medal games and the overall and C Grade winner was Jeff Arndt with 64 net and the runner-up was Ed Kowalonek with 66 net. A Grade winner was Ray Maskell with 66 net and the runner-up was Lee Petersen with 69 net. B Grade winner was Don Cesco with 64 net and the runner-up was John Asher with 66 net. Wednesday 5th April men’s stroke winner was Mike Ford with 65 net and the runner-up was Ian Gilleard with 66 net. The ladies winner was Caryl Durand with 67 net and the runner-up was Gail Spann with 71 net. Saturday 8th April 2 person Ambrose winners were Brad Goos and P Aitken with 56 net and the runners-up were Greg Cain and Kevin O’Malley with 56.250. Wednesday 12th April men’s stableford winner was Paul Yandall with 40 points on a count-back from the runner-up was John Asher. The ladies winner was Jo McAntee with 37 points and the runner-up was Gail Waldorff with 35 points. Saturday 15th April men’s stableford winner was Jason Heskins with 40 points on a count-back from Michael Treay.
