• KING’S TABLE, Russell Island. It has been an honour for us to serve our island community by providing a free three course meal every Friday night at the function room behind the BICSI op shop. King’s Table was created to meet real needs in a practical way. We are thankful to Doris and BICSI for their unwavering support and for the use of theredlands LNP <redlands@lnp.org.au>ir great kitchen facilities. This has enabled us to provide 2000+ meals in the 10 months that we have been operating. Our Christmas dinner will be held on Friday Dec 14th at 5:30pm and will be the last for this yearand we will resume on Feb 14th 2025, giving our amazing team of volunteers a well deserved break.



• RUSSELL ISLAND ‘SINGERS COMMUNITY CHRISTMAS EVENT, Saturday December 14 The Bay Island Singers are still going strong on our islands. So much so, that the would like the island community to attend a ‘collaborative’  Bay Island Christmas Community event on Saturday, December 14. It is top be held in conjunction with the Robert Street Christmas Night Markets, that will be on from 4pm to 10pm




OPEN STUDIS 14TH DEC, 9am to 2pm. Three artists on Western Road, Macleay Island.  132 Road, David Straney pastel artist and picture framer; ALSO  Karen Foster colourful and joyful acrylic and oils, plus clay sculptures. At 142 Western Road, Lumnda Faulkner with 2D and 3D clay, wire work, acrylics, cards and lots of gifts. All three artists are highly regarded island artists. Don’t miss this special opportunity in the lead up to Christmas.



• RPAC BRISBANE Excelsior BIG BRASSY Christmas Fabulous Festive showcase, 2pm Redland Performing Arts Centre, Cleveland.


• RPAC The Hoarder Culturalist. Schools Holiday Film. Thursday 19 to Saturday 21st December, 5pm and 6.30pm, Redland Performing Arts Centre.

• MIAC MONSTER RAFFLE To close 2024, Macleay Island Arts Complex Inc is holding a monster raffle filled with a fantastic array of prizes. 


• The MIAC Wearable Art Competition •  The art event is open to MIAC Members and Non Members across the SMB Islands. There are several very exciting categories including Recycled (creatively turning old into new); Oceana (think mythical/ocean), Ohh La La that is all things glam; and Best Headpiece to go with any of the above categories.  For entry forms email info@miac.org.au - endless possibilities are coming!


• SHE-NANIGANS GIRLS NIGHT OUT Women only Dance Party. Russell Island RSL Club from 6pm. The last Saturday of every month!


• CRIME STOPPERS POLICE EVENT 5 December: A crime prevention meeting with island police to be held at the Russell Island Recreation Hall, 6pm


• LIRA LONG TABLE is on Saturday, 7th DecemberWhiskers, Wigs and Waistcoats is our theme. Think 1924, incorporating our final celebration for our 100 Year Old Pioneer Hall and the background to the night!  We will have an amazing 3 course, formal dinner, Suzie Bubbles Fountain


• RUSSELL ISLAND COMMUNITY ARTS (RICArts) – A community-based organisation offering Art, Sewing, Pottery, Ukulele, Mosaic and Craft sessions from Monday to Friday! • Members’ General Exhibition including Annual $50 and under Sale – from friday 29 th November until 14 January 2024 Pop into The Farm, Arthouse & Gallery and snap up an arty Christmas gift or two. With our annual $50 and under sale included, this is a very affordable gift option. Stop and have a cuppa at Rosie’s Island Beans coffee cart and relax under the shady avocado trees. 


• Merry Christmas from RICArts and Christmas Closure Dates. RICArts Committee would like to take this opportunity to thank the community and our members for their wonderful patronage during the past year.  We would also like to thank all those sponsors who helped to make our events the great success that they were.  Have a happy, safe and restful Christmas and New Year.

• Note that The Farm, Arthouse & Gallery will be closed from Friday 20 th December, 12.30pm and will reopen on Monday 6 th January, 2024 at 9.30am.  There will be NO sessions during this period.  

 

• Karragarra Christmas Party to be held on 1st December 2024 again at the fantastic Karra Beach venue. A Christmas meal will be provided and we have organised a professional Muso; so wear your dancing shoes and Christmas attire to enjoy another fun day,”


• SMBI COMMUNITY CONCERT BAND The island community band started up in 2023 and is happy to welcome new players of all ages and levels on woodwind, brass, percussion and other instruments. Rehearsals are held at the Macleay Island Progress Hall every Sunday of school terms from 2.00-3.30pm. If you are interested just come along and join us! Macleay Island Ukulele Group - MUGS has been established over 10 Years. Meeting every Friday at The Progress Hall, Russell Terrace, Macleay Island from 12noon - 3pm. Fee $5 casual and includes afternoon tea. First time free. Bring your Uke and join us for some fun or just pop in on a Friday afternoon and say Hi. See our Facebook Group for Updates

• JUSTICE OF THE PEACE -  A Justice of the Peace (JP) is now available at Macleay Island Community Library on Fridays from 10.00 am to 12.00 noon.


BICS COUNSELLOR - Meet Jenny our organisations counsellor. Jenny is a Psychotherapist with vast experience in a broad range of counselling requirements. Fortnightly on a Wed from 11:00am—2:00pm available on Macleay and Russell. For bookings ring 3409 1177. 


• Lamb Island Craft Group - 9am to 12pm Tuesdays. LIRA building near Progress Hall. All welcome for good company and a cuppa.


• MACLEAY ISLAND TOURISM CENTRE - The Tourism Centre office is now open at the Macleay Island Community Hall complex. It is open 5 days a week.


• LIONS CLUB COMMUNITY MARKETS are held at the Macleay Island Community Centre on the first Saturday of each month.


• COME  DANCE  WITH  US - Thursdays 9.30am - 1.00pm at the Bay Islands Community Services, 55 Jackson Road, Russell Island. Girls & Guys Line Dancing  - Dance to a variety of music - Country - Pop - Rock n Roll - Waltz. Been dancing since 2008 Contact:- Joanne 0419 999 540

• TENNIS on Macleay and Lamb Islands - The Macleay and Lamb Islands' Tennis Club plays social tennis three times per week: 3pm Monday on Macleay; 4pm Tuesday on Lamb and 2pm or 3pm Thursday on Macleay.
