🏠 HOW SHOULD YOU PREPARE NOW?
Redlanders who get ready before a disaster will know what to do and how to act. The potential cyclone impact could stop you from accessing shops for food, medicine, petrol and other essentials, electricity and clean water. Be prepared to live at home with what you have for a few days before things return to normal.
Visit Get Ready Queensland to find what you need to get ready.
WHAT ELSE CAN YOU DO TO GET READY?
1. Visit the Redlands Coast Disaster dashboard and sign up for alerts.
2. Ensure your gutters and drainage points are clear. (80% of SES call outs in our last major rain event were caused by clogged gutters)
3. Secure loose items like outdoor furniture, toys and trampolines, or move them inside.
4. Prepare an emergency plan and kit with essentials such as water, medications, legal papers, first aid, a battery-operated radio, batteries, pet food, money and a torch. Ensure your phone is fully charged.
5. Coochiemudlo residents should anticipate that ferry and barge services will cease LATER TODAY. North Stradbroke Island and SMBI islanders should anticipate that ferry services will cease on Wednesday afternoon. Services may not resume immediately due to debris on the bay. Precautions should be taken to ensure that you have adequate non-perishable food and water to see you through 3-5 days.
6. Check on your neighbours and ensure you are aware of each other’s plans.

Severe weather will force the temporary closure of my electorate office, however, we will reopen and assist with all enquiries as soon as it is safe to do so.
I have put together some emergency preparedness booklets with all the essential information and emergency contacts in the event we lose power. I have dropped some off to our local retirement communities, Skippy's at Victoria Point and have some available at my Electorate Office.
Please drop in to my office if you would like a copy or you can download and print a copy here: Get Ready Queensland.pdf
I'll be out and about this afternoon handing out some more copies, as well as assisting our sandbagging stations.
Please stay safe everyone.
