‘Discount Voucher Booklet’

BIMSARA MAJOR CHANGES, INITIATIVES AND EVENTS IN THE YEAR AHEAD! ‘Discount Voucher Booklet’
Island organisation BIMBSARA is excited to announce the creation of a discount voucher booklet as a new fundraising initiative. The concept is straightforward: businesses pay to be included in the booklet and offer a discount or other incentive. Consumers can purchase these voucher booklets from BIMSARA; and the discounts are valid for a year. This initiative will help BIMSARA generate enough income to apply for grants that require a percentage of the cost. This, in turn, will enable us to provide more disability support, shelters, and other services on the islands.BIMSARA also wish to advise the annual general meeting (AGM) will be held on Thursday March 6th , from 5:30 PM to 7:30 pm at the BIMSARA centre on Russell IslandBIMSARA has decided not to hold any more Australia Day events from now on.. The RSL and Bowling Club both provide Australia Day events. Instead, they believe the island community will be better served by a Harmony Day (Cultural Diversity) event in March next year.BIMSARA will also be forming a netball team, thanks to community communication and a grant from the Queensland Government's Advice Women's and Girls Program. The next major event this year will be a Murder Mystery/Dress-Up event, likely to be in late March or early April. Other upcoming events include LUMI on Saturday, June 21st, with lantern-making workshops on June 7th and 14th at the Recreation Hall on Russell Island.A Multi-Cultural Day is also planned on Saturday, August 30th, encouraging all cultures to join in and celebrate together.BIMSARA will provide a safe space for children to celebrate Halloween October 31st 4pm to 8pm with spooky movies and a kids' disco. Light meals, snacks, water, and soft drinks will be available. Finally, we are looking forward to joining OJ Rushton and the Bay Island Singers to host a spectacular Christmas event, hopefully including groups from all four islands.
