HAVE YOUR SAY ON THE DRAFT BIRKDALE COMMUNITY PRECINCT MASTER PLAN Redland City Council has adopted the largest and most exciting draft masterplan in the city’s history, with draft plans for the Birkdale Community Precinct getting the greenlight from Councillors at a Special Meeting. Acting Mayor Julie Talty said the Draft Birkdale Community Precinct (BCP) Master Plan outlined an exciting concept for the 62-hectare site on Old Cleveland Road East at Birkdale over the next two decades. “It will be one of the largest community spaces in South-East Queensland, and will include a Southbank-style public lagoon that the community has been asking for over many years,” Cr Talty said. Birkdale Community Precinct is the largest and most diverse project of its kind ever delivered in the city and the Draft Master Plan shows what a truly superb showcase it is going to be for all of Redlands Coast. To read the Draft Birkdale Community Precinct Master Plan go to the Your Say website where you can fill out the online survey. APPLICATIONS OPEN FOR ANNUAL COUNCIL SPONSORSHIP Applications are now open for Round 1 of Redland City Council’s annual Sponsorship Program. Acting Mayor Julie Talty said a total funding pool of $160,000 was available over two rounds of sponsorship this financial year to support community-based events and initiatives held on Redlands Coast. "Council sponsorship helps local organisations, community groups and individuals run a diverse range of events, projects and initiatives that directly benefit our community,” Cr Talty said. Applications for Round 1 of this year’s Sponsorship Program will be accepted until 14 August and will support activities and events that provide tangible and measurable benefits to the Redlands community. There are categories for minor sponsorship (up to $15,000) and major sponsorship ($15,001 and over). A second sponsorship round will open in February 2023. For eligibility criteria visit Redland City Council’s website or call 3829 8999.
