IT’S SPRING FESTIVAL SUCCESS AND GARDEN ART WINNERS! What a huge success for the 2021 It’s Spring event. There were lots of entries in all the sections and the end-of-festival event and presentation at RICARTS was a great night, with the conclusion of the Festival being the Sunday Breakfast and Hideaway Markets at The Farm. Sara Zestara and Shirley Lindsay were the judges of the various garden art sections and it was a great effort on behalf of Bob Turner and the RICARTS team for putting on such an event, that will most certainly become an annual one. There were about 30 stalls at the Hideaway Markets and the volunteer ladies providing the $3 sausage sizzle breakfasts was value for money and lots of fun in the Community Garden setting. Sandra Kirby’s Judith Street garden was judged the most outstanding formal garden, having won in previous year’s in similar community garden competitions. Sandra, amazingly has only lived in her Judith Street home only since 2016, and her garden is a sight to behold She told the Friendly Bay Islander that she started the garden from nothing, to achieve what it is today. The competition was judged by local island artists Sara Zastara from Macleay Island and Shirley Lindsay from Karragarra Island.
