HOSPITAL MILESTONE

CONVENIENT REDLANDS SATELLITE HOSPITAL PROVING ‘VALUABLE’ FOR ISLANDERS

The Redlands Satellite Hospital at Weinam Creek is proving a ‘boon’ to island residents.

More and more islanders are discovering the ‘convenience’ of the day-only hospital.

One resident in particular, Russell Island’s Neil Kelly, has found it particularly helpful for his regular treatments at the Cancer Day Therapy Unit.

“I absolutely loved the Satellite Hospital.

“It is not just because it is convenient and new, but I also love the non-clinical feel.

“I really enjoy the light bright environment and the staff are all amazing.”

Prior to receiving treatment at the Satellite Hospital, Neil would have to travel to the PA Hospital.

“The whole exercise used to take the better part of the day.

“Now, I catch the ferry from Russell Island and door-to-door it is over just half an hour,” Neil added.

Neil just happened to be on hand on the day the Satellite Hospital celebrated its half birthday milestone.

Quite literally the staff were breaking out the balloons for a celebration marking not just its half birthday, but six months of delivering high-quality healthcare to thousands of residents on the islands and nearby Redland Bay.

The day-only operation Satellite Hospital is playing a huge role in taking the press off the  day and emergency services at the Redlands Hospital at Cleveland.
