ANDREW STRANSKY FINISHES 5TH IN WORLD MASTERS SAILING

Russell Island’s Andrew Stransky recently contested the Masters Worlds Sailing Championships in Adelaide.

Usually it is daughter and Australia’s top woman sailor, Mara Stransky, who is the brilliant family sailor.

However, she has had her skills passed down from her dad, Andrew.

Andrew in his own right is a fine sailor and recently proved it at the World Masters event.

He performed extremely well, just missing out on a world cube by just one point and finishing in 5th place.

Andrew tells us that Mara is once again in is a very close battle amongst the Australian women as to who will get to represent Australia at the Paris the Olympic games.

Recently voted ‘Australia’s top sailor’ Mara is definitely in a good position to again represent, after her Tokyo efforts.

Whilst she is a top contender, Mara has not cemented her representative spot so it will all boil down to the final selection Regatta, the Princess Sofia Regatta a very big World Cup held in Palma Majorca.

This was to be held at the end of March.
