MAJOR MAINLAND FUNCTIONS FOR KAREN WILLIAMS AND BAY ISLANDS PROPERTY PACK ISLANDERS IN!
Two major events held on the mainland, attracted large numbers of islanders in mid November.
The first was a special dinner at Sirromet Winery to mark the long career in Local Government by former Redland City Councillor and Mayor, Karen Williams.
There were plenty of islanders who attended to thank and catch up with the former Mayor.
Several speakers outlined her career, serving as a councillor for 8 years and a further 12 years as Mayor.
Speakers included Deputy Mayor Julie Talty and former Mayoral assistant Alan McNeil, and others.
Her role in making council more effective and transitional was highlighted.
From our islands point of view, the island transport system switch to Translink and the island ‘green seal’ road upgrades, were particular highlights, along with former Division 5 Councillor Mark Edwards.
They were a formidable team.
Karen Williams thanked all her personal assistants, employees, councillors and others who supported her over the years.
With over 200 people in attendance for the superb Sirromet dinner, it was a huge recognition of how the Redlands community appreciated Karen Williams role and outcomes.
