SEQ WATER SHUTDOWN FOR MAJOR LINE REPLACEMENT
Seqwater shut down the water supply to Karragarra, Lamb, and Macleay Islands overnight on Saturday 20 March 2021. The team has replaced an 80 metre section of drinking water pipeline on Karragarra Island, after a series of pipeline bursts in the same section of pipe. The pipeline now needs to be tested and connected to the system. Even though previous bursts occurred in a different section of the original pipeline, they were close enough to justify replacing the whole section. The team needed nearly 12 hours to complete this work, so to ensure water is available for everyone in the morning, with the water coming back on from 9am. Seqwater worked in coordination with Redland City Council and local businesses to best manage the timing of the required shut down.
