MACLEAY PROGRESS COMPLETES WORKS WITH EXCITING GRASSED AREA FOR MORE ISLAND EVENTS!
Major works by the active Macleay Island Progress Association are now almost completed.
The group some time ago started work on the complex that involved a new roof, a new expanded deck area, and now a lovely grassed area to compliment the popular island community facility.
The final works have involved the specially-constructed grassed area.
A retaining wall was required to be built and then the area levelled accordingly.
It required 400 m2 or grass to be laid with 11 volunteers turning up to get the job done.
The result is a far more functional Progress Hall and surrounding amenity.
Already used by many for island meetings and functions, it is now also ‘home’ to the progress group’s regular ‘Bernie’s Markets’.
The new grassed area could see other events such as music festivals, now a definite possibility. - Thanks to Lynda Faulkner for assisting with this story.
