ONE-SIDED CONVERSATION

BOB TURNER HOW TO HAVE A ONE-SIDED CONVERSATION AND WIN THE ARGUMENT! Bob Turner is a special man. A long time friend of The Friendly Bay Islander, he can literally turn his hand to anything: architect, builder, handyman, designer, artist. Many do not know that he once worked in London for a firm of architects overlooking St Paul’s Cathedral and he currently has an artwork on show at The Farm Gallery at RICARTS on Russell Island depicting that very scene. More recently, he has been conducting a special form of art classes at his famous Fisherman’s Shack on the Russell Island waterfront, just a few metres down from the jetty terminal and next to Jock Kennedy Park It is called ‘Shack Art’ for two good reasons: • The classes are held in a shack he has erected on his ‘interesting’ site; • All the artwork that comes from his classes is about making art from just about anything and everything that just might happen to be laying around! In a way, it is a prime example of the best in environmental art (now that’s a new name for you!) And if you reckon Bob isn’t having a great crack at it, just go and check out this waterside garden. Some examples of the unique and imaginative art was displayed in the gardens of The Farm Art Gallery and the recent My Favourite Place and This is Where I Live exhibition. Some model faces were turned into a near ‘real life’ family of three sitting at a table that surprised many who saw the exhibits. Bob reckons it is the right group to have around when in need of a one-sided conversation and always winning an argument! Very artistic and definitely a lot of fun.
