AMAZING SIMILARITIES BETWEEN QUEENSLAND AND USA ELECTIONS!

The similarities between the recent elections in Queensland and the USA are uncanny.

Observing from afar, it is easy to see a trend emerging in democracies brought about by clear demographic changes.

For those who may not be aware, the Labor Party in Australia and the Democrats in America are very similar in beliefs.

They are regarded as the LEFT side of politics.

The Liberal National Parties (LNP) in Australia and the Republicans in the US, are on the RIGHT side of politics.

Broadly, the LEFT are more for common dispersal of income and bigger Government ; and the RIGHT are for smaller Government and less Government interference.

The only real difference between the two countries is the colours they have taken as their ‘symbols’.

In America, the Democrats are the Blue side; Republicans are the Red side.

Obviously in Australia, Labor is Red and the LNP and Blue.

In the recent elections, held within two weeks of each other, the RIGHT side of politics swept to power in amazingly similar circumstances.

Both were decided on the first night of polling; meaning substantial differences and big wins.

Some elections in the past have taken weeks to come to fruition, particularly in the US.

In early counting of both elections, there were early signs, and then a ‘flood’ of votes poured in for the RIGHT side, the Republicans and the LNP.

Key battleground seats and states fell like they never have before in the US.

In our Queensland election, the LNP swept to power in a Blue Wave, even winning long-term Labor seats in Mackay, Townsville and Toowoomba that had been in Labor’s hands for generations. In the case of Mackay, it was the first change in 100 years

By the end of counting, the LNP had won 52 seats to 36 seats for Labor, 3 to the Katter Party and one each to the Greens and an Independent.

In the case of the US elections, not only did Donald Trump win with one of the biggest swings in US history, he also helped the Republicans totally dominate the Senate and also take control of the ‘House’ Congress.

To win the Presidency in America, the Blue Wall is regarded as a stumbling block.

It is a cluster of States that generally vote Democrat and are regarded as hard to topple.

Donald Trump swept all before him along with those states of Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Michigan.

As well as the similarities in voting patterns with people wanting real change and end to what some commentators call ‘wokeness’; there was another major trend.

Once upon a time the Labor Party stood for the Australian worker; and back in the 1950’s and 60’s the Catholic Church was ‘ordered’ to vote Labor.

It was a similar situation in America.

“It’s time’ in the 1970’s with Gough Whitlam started a seismic change with ‘celebrity politics’ becoming a factor.

Today, the LNP in Australia and the Republicans in America are now the parties of the working class and the ordinary Australian and American families.

It was those ‘ordinary’ families, the ‘quiet ones’, who showed their real strength and opted for major change.

It brings us to the next major election in Australia scheduled for probably May 2025.

If the trend to the right continues, the  Albanese Federal Labor Government becomes a ‘one term wonder’!
