FINAL NUMBERS ENHANCE NEW CRISAFULLI LNP GOVERNMENT
The final numbers in the Queensland State elections held on October 26, have further enhanced the elected Crisafulli LNP Government.
It was reaffirmed that pre-polling is the way of the future in Australian elections.
Around 60% of Queenslanders voted prior to election day!
Ironically, same day polling was relatively close in Queensland.
However, when pre-polling started, the LNP literally swept to power.
The final counting and seats were not declared for nearly two weeks, but the final result had new Premier David Crisaifulli and the Liberal National Party winning 52 seats to the Labor Party’s (ALP) 36 seats.
Katter’s Australian Party won three seats, an Independent and the Greens one seat each.
It was a particularly crushing blow to The Greens who forecast they would win at least x3 seats.
In the two seats that impact our islands, Redlands and Oodgeroo, the LNP won Redlands back and had a huge margin of victory in Oodgeroo.
New Redlands MP Rebecca Young won by nearly 5%, with 42.43% of the vote, and Kim Richards with 37.81%.
The islands clearly backed Kim Richards by as much as 20%, but it was on the mainland and pre-polling where Rebecca Young swept to victory.
In Oodgeroo, Amanda Stoker won in a canter.
She obtained 55.69% of the vote compared to Labor’s Irene Henry with 28.88%
