THE RUSTLERS BUSH BAND FORMS FROM ISLAND MUSICIANS Island musicians love to jam and are often heard picking away at BBQ’s and events. What is not generally known, there are quite a number of accomplished musicians on our islands. Jon Jass is one of them. So, instead of jamming away at home on their own, Jon has got a few of them together to form the Rustlers Bush Band. This collective of acoustic musicians play and plan shows together. Banjo, guitar and mandolin player, Jon Jass told TheFriendly Bay Islander: "Bush music is fun and a great workout and musical challenge due to the energy it inspires. “It can include anything from bluegrass to blues, from sea shanties to jazz. “But always it's about that sweet vibe as acoustic instruments combine.” The band is building a repertoire of Bush Dance tunes for some upcoming shows and has already appeared at some local venues, including the Russell Island RSL Club. Catch them at a local venue soon and you will discover Bush Band music and dancing is great fun and a part of our heritage. “Yes, Good simple music,” Jon Jass says. ]
