BIG WINNER AT SUNSHINE COAST MALENY ‘WOOTHA’ PRIZE
Macleay Island timber artist, Ted Upton, is one of the major winners at the famous Sunshine Coast Maleny Wootha Prize 2024.
Ted was the winner in the Tiny Treasures category with his beautiful artwork, ‘King Quail’.
Proudly sponsored by Sunshine Coast Council and hosted by Barung Landcare, the Sunshine Coast Wootha Prize is the feature exhibition at the Maleny Wood Expo.
The competition showcases beautiful and sustainably crafted pieces from wood artisans and furniture makers from all over Australia, and is recognised as one of Australia’s most art awards, particularly timber related.
Ted’s beautiful entry ‘King Quail’ was his contribution to the Tiny Treasures category. Ted told the Friendly Bay Islander he is still ‘inspired’ to continue his love of timber and artwork, “perhaps more than ever”.
For his efforts, Ted received a $2500 prize.
